SMILE laser
A newer, keyhole laser treatment for minus and cylinder numbers.
What it is
SMILE is a newer laser treatment for correcting glasses numbers. The laser shapes a tiny disc of tissue inside the cornea, which is removed through a very small opening.
Because there is no flap, as there is in LASIK, the opening is small. SMILE treats short sight (minus number) and astigmatism (cylinder number).
Who it's for
- Adults with a stable minus and/or cylinder number
- Healthy eyes, confirmed with tests
- People in active jobs or sports who want a keyhole option
- Not used for plus numbers: Dr Gandhi will suggest another option

SMILE is used for minus and cylinder numbers. For a plus number, Dr Gandhi will discuss other options.
How soon can I go back to work?
Many people return to most daily activities within a few days. Dr Gandhi will advise you based on your work and your eyes.
